Abstract
Current regulations dealing with solvent emissions and hazardous waste disposal from industrial maintenance paints are reviewed. It is anticipated that a national rule from the Environmental Protection Agency for industrial maintenance paints will be modelled after solvent emission limits in California: 340 grams per liter. A new accelerated test, termed corrosion-weathering, is highlighted as one that may help assess the relative durability of new paints offered to comply with VOC regulations.
