Abstract
Health hazards in surface preparation are addressed and defined in the following:
Respiratory
Silicosis is the most common of respiratory problems in surface preparation. Dust inhalation causing other lung diseases is also possible.
Removing old coatings containing lead result in lead poisoning.
Wet abrasive blasting to remove asbestos prevents asbestosis possibility.
Operator physical hazards such as being properly trained and determined physically able by x-rays, ets., for surface Preparation operations. Operators with smoking history, tuberculosis or emphysema should be restricted from surface preparation operations.
Using and maintaining proper respiratory equipment.
