Abstract
The six phosphorus based inhibitors commonly used in cooling water systems were classified by bench screening test under drastic conditions, with respect to corrosion inhibition, scale inhibition, sequestration and dispersion. The experimental data can be used as a guide for selection of the inhibitors and inhibitor combinations and their use along with other additives including organic polymers. The data generated are utilized for clearer understanding of the mechanism of corrosion and scale inhibition.
