Abstract
Many steel water pipelines are coated with multiple layer Polyethylene Tape Systems for corrosion protection. These tape systems are plant applied and are covered by the American Water Works Association Coating Standard AWWA C214-83 for "Tape Coating Systems For The Exterior Of Steel Water Pipelines". The technical, application and use aspects of these pipeline coating tape systems are discussed in this paper. The tape systems are widely used in the Potable Water Industry as well as other water service pipelines. The AWWA C214-83 standard is specified by engineers for all types of underground and submerged metallic pipelines.
