ABSTRACT

The crevice corrosion resistance of several commercial austenitic, ferritic and duplex stainless steels and nickel base alloys was investigated. Welded and unwelded specimens were exposed in a chloride-chlorine solution at 25 C (77 F) representing the conditions in the chlorination stage of a bleach plant. The best crevice corrosion resistance was exhibited by Hastelloy Alloy C-276® and Alloy AL 29-4C.
