Abstract
Phosphate mechanisms for corrosion inhibition of mild steel in cooling waters, along with those applicable to azole-copper alloy systems, are discussed. With this as background, electrochemical studies and field data, coupled with film analysis by ESCA (electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis) and EDX (energy-dispersive X ray) for phosphate-steel and phosphate-azole-steel systems are presented.
