It is well known that certain inorganic materials are effective corrosion inhibitors, however, in the past the inherent disadantages associated with these materials have precluded their effective use in cooling systems. With advances in polymer chemistry and organic research it is now possible to more effectively utilise the properties of these inorganic materials. The performance and mechanism of low toxicity cooling water treatment incorporating these inorganic materials are discussed.
