Abstract
Laboratory tests have been conducted to serve as a guide to the increasing use of the new ferritic stainless steels, such as E-Brite® alloy (UNS S44627), AL 29-4C™ alloy (UNS S44735) and AL 29-4-2™ (UNS S44800) alloy, in the chemical industry. The results of these tests have been presented in comparison to certain austenitic and duplex alloys. Isocorrosion diagrams were developed for E-Brite alloy, AL 29-4-2 alloy and Type 310 (UNS S31000), which had been melted by an AOD refining practice. Carpenter No. 7-Mo™ (UNS S32900), Sandvik 2RE10™ and Sanicro 28® (UNS N08028) were also evaluated in a limited number of tests for comparison.
