This paper will present the powder coating process in regards to electrostatic spray application. The evolution of electrostatic spray as the most widely accepted means of applying powder coating is the result of increased research and development of electrostatic spray equipment, over the past ten (10) years. Included in the electrostatic spray process is the recovery, recycling and spray booth equipment necessary to the process. The innovations and technologies (presented by both existing and future concepts of electrostatic powder spray systems) are available in widely varied forms, and from various sources. Factors which are important to the acceptance of these innovations and technologies are, however, very similar; specifically, the ability to provide efficient, safe and economical product finishing capabilities. This paper will address what the powder coating process is, how it is accomplished and future possibilities of electrostatic powder spray applications.
