Abstract
The presence of certain halide ions in an environment is known to influence pitting and accelerate underdeposit crevice corrosion of alloys. Laboratory test data designed to aid in the understanding of the role of halide ions, especially chloride and fluoride ions, on corrosion in FGD systems are presented.
Field corrosion test results and material performance evaluations are also discussed for use in materials selection for applications.
