Abstract
This paper defines the types of deep groundbeds and presents a history of the development of closed hole deep groundbeds from the mid 1950's to the present. It discusses "state of the art" deep groundbed technology, manufacturing methods for impressed current anodes and other critical groundbed components in various environments, and economic considerations in deep groundbed design and operation.
