Abstract
In 1968, NACE Task Group exposed a total of 445 test panels at seven exposure locations in the United States. The test panels were prepared using eight different surface preparation methods, and were coated using five different coating systems. The test panels have been evaluated yearly, and the grading results have been compiled by a sophisticated computerized data processing system.
A ten-year overview summary of the test panel evaluation results is presented in this paper, with major emphasis upon the influence of surface preparation on coating performance. A much more detailed ten-year report, providing all statistical tabular data and data summaries from which this paper was written is available (at cost) from NACE.
