Abstract
Reinforced Thermosetting Plastics, primarily polyesters, have found wide application in process industries for more than 25 years. Although these materials are relatively new in waste water treatment applications, they have become accepted engineering materials of construction over the past several years.
The cost effective advantages of RTP -- excellent chemical, fungus and bacterial resistance, high strength/weight ratio, abrasion resistance, ease of maintenance -- are basically the reasons that these materials have found such wide acceptance. Everything points to continued growth of the use of these materials in this area.
This paper will review, discuss and analyze the RTP family of materials to ensure a better understanding of their effective use and performance in waste water treatment applications.
