Abstract
Integranular stress corrosion cracking of welded type 304 stainless steel piping in Boiling Water Reactors has impacted on plant availability and economics. A major four year research program, jointly sponsored by a BWR Owners Group and the Electric Power Research Institute has been established to resolve the problem. The program builds upon existing research and focuses upon developed technology implementation. The status of the program including the results of existing projects on the development, qualification and implementation of a number of engineering solutions to the problem are presented.
