Abstract
Tubec is a new approach to scale control without the use of chemical additions. Using a specially developed manufacturing method, tubes with an extremely high surface finish are produced. Scaling is minimized in alkaline evaporator service. Scale build up versus flow rates and solids contents are investigated in relation to effects on heat transfer. The economics in terms of process and corrosion control, cleaning requirements, pumping energy and steam energy input will be discussed.
