Inorganic-zinc coatings in Japan have closely followed the growth of the steel fabrication and shipbuilding industry since the early 1950's. The start of the use of those materials was primarily on specifications developed in the United States for application to ships and structural steel in Japan, which would then be exported from the country. While the principal use of the coating was within the marine industry, there were also extensive applications for refineries, loading docks, offshore loading pipelines, offshore drilling structures, and many similar uses. This nine and equipment was coated in Japan and exported to all parts of the world.
