This paper is concerned with the effect of water velocity on copper heat exchanger tubes. Carrier Corporation's design manual (1 ) reflects accepted industry practice and recommends maximum water velocities of eight feet per second for continuous operation and fifteen feet per second for operation twenty percent of the time. ARI is less specific in their Corrosion Booklet (2 ) but suggests velocities between three and ten feet per second.
