The use of plastics and ceramics, as well as many other non-metallic materials has greatly increased during the past ten years. First costs have often demonstrated their advantages over alloys and special metals in addition to often improved chemical resistance and longer life. In such plants as nuclear processing, the beneficial use of fluorinated resins, such as polyvinylidene fluoride (Kynar*) and polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon**) was described in a recent paper by Dr. L. E. Bruns of the Atlantic Richfield Hanford Company for the Atomic Energy Commission.
