The water property and potential surveys discussed in this paper were undertaken as the initial phase of our study of cathodic protection of offshore structures. The primary objective of this project is to evaluate the effectiveness of design criteria presently used for the cathodic protection of our structures in the Gulf of Mexico. Ultimately, we hope to extrapolate our findings so as to develop improved criteria for the protection of deepwater (400-600 feet) structures.
