Sustained, uninterrupted gas condensate production is more critical today than ever before. The increase in the price of gas plus the shortage of energy has caused gas condensate wells to be produced that otherwise might have been plugged and abandoned. High-water-volume gas condensate wells produce today what would have been considered token amounts of gas a few years ago. In addition, the severe conditions existing in the high temperature, high-pressure reservoirs located by deep drilling have made corrosion problems even more critical both from the standpoints of safety and economics. Scale is an ever increasing problem especially along the Gulf Coast where, unfortunately, much of the scale is barium sulfate.
