The high-alloy stainless steel SANDVIK 2RK65 is finding increasing use in severely corrosive environments of refineries. The grade is not new. In the past it has mostly been used in corrosive areas of chemical plants. However, the very good pitting and stress corrosion resistance of SANDVIK 2RK65 also makes it very suitable for some difficult areas in refineries. Such applications will be discussed in this paper after a description of the properties of the steel.
