Fluoroplastics show the best chemical resistance among the plastics. Fluoroplastics are inert to almost all kinds of chemicals in the temperature range of -60 deg C to 260 deg. C. Fluoroplastics show excellent non-stick properties and low friction properties, giving these materials widespread use in the chemical and oil and gas industries. The physical and chemical properties of the different kinds of fluoropolymers will be discussed. The applications in this paper will focus on the coating process vs. the lining process with pros and cons. The coating process will be presented in detail. Examples will be presented on the different types of applications. Finally, six cases will be presented. One of the cases will be desulfurization of flue gas at high temperatures.
