Jan Ward, CEO of UK-based company
Corrotherm International, has been made a Commander of the British Empire by
HRH Prince Charles in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Jan was invested as a CBE for her
services to business and her prominent role within the business community at
both a national and international level. She founded Corrotherm 1992
to supply high grade metals to the oil, gas and desalination markets, and since
then the company has gone from strength to strength, expanding significantly to
establish a strong global presence.
Jan Ward says: “It was thrilling to
meet Prince Charles and I was surprised at how much he knew about me and
Corrotherm International. It was a surprisingly comfortable and relaxed
environment and the Yeomen at Buckingham Palace ensured that everything
transitioned easily and smoothly throughout the ceremony.
“Following on from the photo-call, I
met my whole family outside the palace and we held a celebratory lunch at the
Savoy Grill, followed by afternoon tea at the Ritz. It was a spectacular day –
really thrilling."
Jan
is passionate about the manufacturing industry, and has been active over the
years in various local and regional business organisations.
As
a successful woman in the traditionally male-dominated world of engineering,
Jan is no stranger to having her accomplishments recognized. In 2009, she was
named the UK’s most inspirational female entrepreneur, winning the
coveted NatWest Everywoman Award which champions female entrepreneurs, and
in 2013 was named international director of the year in the Institute of
Directors London and South East Director of the Year Awards.
However,
the CBE is a unique and very special achievement. Jan comments: “It is a great honour and quite a
surprise to be recognized in this way – now I have to live up to it.”
