A novel high performance coating was developed to provide improved protection of industrial facilities exposed to harsh corrosion stresses to reduce risk of failures and maintenance costs. Traditional zinc-rich primers have been the preferred primer of these systems since galvanic effect provides an outstanding anticorrosive protection of steel. Although these existing primers fulfil the anticorrosive requirements of standards such as ISO 12944-9, their performance is not comparable with novel activated zinc technology.

Activated zinc technology was exposed to offshore conditions in a floating laboratory under controlled conditions, accelerated laboratory testing according to ISO12944-9 and real-life exposure up to 8 years. The results shown a superior corrosion protection enabling us to take corrosion protection to a higher level reducing maintenance work with sustainability gains.
