Among the original committees established by the founders of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers is the Policy and Planning Committee.

It was early recognized that in expanding the activities of the founders’ group of the Southwest to a national basis, the Board of Directors would not only need a group to study and recommend plans of organization, but would also require the continuing advice of a committee on policy and planning problems throughout the life of the association.

In 1949, it was apparent that with the increased recognition being given to activities in the field of corrosion mitigation on a national scale through participation in NACE by a growing membership from a wide range of industries, that consideration should be given to revision of the Articles of Organization and By-Laws to better meet the requirements of the Association’s expanding activities.
