This paper presents a new accelerated stress corrosion cracking (SCC) test method that simulates changes in actual environmental conditions to evaluate the service life of structural materials. The time-to-failure of type 304 (UNS(1) S30400) stainless steel, as tested by the new SCC test apparatus, is analyzed in terms of statistical probability and new indexes of SCC are described.
