The general corrosion susceptibility and the intergranular corrosion (IGC) susceptibility of austenitic stainless steel were evaluated under different casting processing conditions. It was found that vacuum melting and casting of austenitic stainless steel leads to significant improvement in the resistance to both types of corrosion.
