An evaluation was made of four coating materials used on working electrodes in electrochemical polarization studies of metallic materials in the form of a thin ribbon or sheet. Coating performance was determined by anodic polarization studies and by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) examination. Amercoat 90(1) displayed good performance as a coating material and showed less sensitivity to changes in sample preparation, electrolyte composition, and material substrate.
