This article is concerned with the practical aspects of the application of some recently developed plastics to the prevention of corrosion or, more particularly, chemical attack. The subject of corrosion-resistant coatings is broad, and comments are limited primarily to materials with which readers may not be familiar.

The problem of corrosion, of course, may be attacked in a number of ways. Anti-electrolysis procedures are the subjects of current, wide discussions. Corrosion-resistant alloys answer many needs, as do surface treatments such as electroplating. There are many types of protective coatings in use, both organic and inorganic.

Organic coatings can be divided into various groups, depending upon the outlook of the investigator. Paints, lacquers, and enamels are well known.
