A detailed kinetic study of corrosion reactions of iron In HCl, H2SO4, and H3PO4 is made by a modified version of the gasometric technique. Reaction rates are measured at different temperatures. Curves drawn for reaction rates led to the development of a new kinetic expression, viz, rate = A eBC e−E/RT, where C is the concentration and B is another constant. Various kinetic parameters such as rate constant k, frequency factor A, effective activation energy E, and the new kinetic parameter B are calculated for the reactions of corrosion of iron in three different acids.
