The stress corrosion susceptibility of three materials (Inconel 600, Sanicro 30, and Monel 400) has been evaluated in concentrated caustic solutions at 300 C. The effect of material composition, heat treatment, applied stress, and caustic concentration on tube integrity was studied. Applied stress was found to have the greatest effect on cracking susceptibility.
