Go Okamoto is a pioneer of modern corrosion science. He has authored 192 papers and 5 books. His contributions are not restricted to the field of corrosion but extend to the field of electrode kinetics, water chemistry, catalysis, and chemical engineering. His former students and associates are also leaders in these fields, including 19 professors in different Universities of Japan. He has received 6 prizes from academic societies and associations.
His love for the outdoors and wilderness led him to Hokkaido, a then-developing region of Japan. In Hokkaido, he spent the prime of his life, together with his family, his friends, and associates, amidst the beautiful contryside. Recently he wrote a short poem expressing his view of the life based on a poem of Longfellow's:
Dr. Okamoto is an ever-youthful corrosion scientist.
Perhaps most corrosion scientists are originally either electrochemists or metallurgists. Dr. Okamoto's corrosion research is based on his...
