Many of my national and international colleagues in corrosion have been pressing me on the delays in publishing articles in CORROSION journal. One article took over a year from submission to publish-Why?-Reasons and rectifications follow.

A simple reason first. CORROSION journal has no page charges; we have attempted to keep the size of the journal to 40 pages in order to run a tight financial ship.

It was clear to me late last year that this space would not be sufficient, and I requested that the Publication Committee improve an increase in our available size to cut down a rapidly increasing backlog. The Publications Committee in December, 1974 approved a plan whereby (1) the type size would be reduced to the same as in our sister journal, MATERIALS PERFORMANCE. and (2) the article sequencing would be continuous with no white space between them as in the past.
