A straining electrode test was used to determine the relative susceptibilities of various alloys to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in a high temperature aqueous solution. The results showed that duplex alloys are generally superior to austenitic alloys, and that nickel-base alloys have the greatest resistance except in the sensitized condition.
