Oxidation of iron alloys containing 0.59 or 1.06 at.% titanium has been studied in the temperature range 800 to 1100 C (1472-2012 F) in CO2-CO mixtures. The kinetics are initially linear and the rate determining step is inferred to be the dissociation of CO2 into adsorbed oxygen atoms or ions and CO at the gas mixture-wüstite interface.
