Anodic polarization tests of AISI 1045, 4047, 4140, 4340 and 5140 low alloy steels in 0.01, 0.1, 1 and 5 N sulfuric acid at 25 C (77 F) showed these steels to have identical behavior to that observed for a mild steel having essentially the same carbon and minor impurity contents.
