Conditions necessary for scale exfoliation of copper-nickel feed-water heater tubes are re- viewed. An accelerated laboratory test has been developed to show the susceptibility of copper-nickel alloys to scale exfoliation. Using this test, a wide range of copper-nickel alloys have been evaluated for potential feed-water heater service.
