The Damage shown by corrosion of the inner surfaces of tubing, chokes, and flow lines of condensate or gas distillate wells indicates the potential danger of failure of such equipment. It is obvious that the weakening and possible failure of well equipment and flow lines where such high pressures are encountered is very hazardous.
The Stanolind Research Laboratory has pursued the study and analyses of condensate waters from the Katy and South Jennings fields. All analyses showed a very high content of soluble iron. An examination showed that all the iron is in the ferrous condition as it is produced at the well head. The total dissolved solids is very low, 500 to 1,000 ppm., in waters from these distillate wells, indicating the condensation process involved in this type of well production.
It has been found by the writer that when condensate waters are exposed to air, the pH value...
