A potentiodynamic method has been applied to the study of the inhibiting action of phenylthiourea on the dissolution of iron(1) in acid media. The influence of this compound was found to be related to its concentration and to the pH of the acid medium. Inhibition was revealed as being of mixed anodic and cathodic type, with anodic prevailing. By electrochemical methods, it was shown that the inhibitor's effect on the anodic reaction decreases with inhibitor concentration.
