Tentative recommended specifications and practices are drawn up here for prefabricated plastic films used for coating pipelines. Materials covered include pressure-sensitive plastic tapes, prefabricated plastic film with adhesive coating separately applied, tape laminates, and extruded plastic coatings. A general description is given of each of these four types of coatings materials followed by a table of physical properties and test methods. Protective over- wraps are discussed briefly as is cathodic protection. Topics considered with respect to application of prefabricated plastic films to pipe include cleaning, priming, coating and wrapping, and inspection and repair. 5.4.10, 8.9.3
