Effect of temperature and different operating conditions in multi-effect sodium chloride evaporators on various metals is noted. A comparison between an essentially neutral brine and a highly alkaline brine indicates that large differences in corrosion can be expected between the different pH conditions. Some of the different corrosion effects that can be expected of Monel, copper alloys, stainless steels, and other metals are listed with the corrosion rates achieved in a series of tests. 4.6.10
