Atmospheric corrosion of aluminum-rich aluminum-silver alloys from which Ag2Al was precipitated led to complete pulverization of samples within a few weeks. In this process the intergranular intermetallic compound corroded out completely. Corrosion proceeded at a mild rate in an ordinary atmosphere but became catastrophic with high humidity.
