Principles under which atmospheric corrosion tests are made are much the same as those applicable to other types of testing. Considered, among other things are, uses of accelerated tests, specimen size, location of test sites, differences in atmospheres, differences in metals and influence of alloying constituents.
Mounting procedures, shape of specimens, drainage, influence of rainfall, influence of climatic variations, uses of shelters, reproducibility, test duration, evaluation of results.
