Investigation described indicates that relative corrosion rates of iron and steel in systems buffered to a pH of 5.0 can be determined from cathodic polarization measurements in the presence of an oil phase, carbon dioxide and commercially used amine inhibitors. Method described provides a rapid and relatively accurate means of evaluating the efficiency of industrial corrosion inhibitors in systems which simulate operating conditions. 5.8.3
