Electrolysis studies indicated that inadequate drainage of a one-mile long 350,000 circular mil drain wire had created cable-to-earth potentials ranging from + .15 to + .35 volt in certain areas. This situation was corrected through the use of a magnetic amplifier used to vary the rectifier output simultaneously with the erratic positive cable-to-earth potentials. Experience to date indicates this controlled magnetic amplifier not only performs effectively but also requires a minimum of maintenance. 5.2.3
