has finalized an agreement with Nisso Industry for exclusive Japanese
distribution of Safway’s patented QuikDeck® Suspended Access System. The deal
reflects growing global recognition of the benefits of Safway’s innovative, modular
work platform. Nisso
is one of the
largest providers of scaffolding and other access-related services in Japan.“We have high expectations for QuikDeck in the growing Japanese market following the product’s successful international debut in Brazil in 2011,” said Jerry Dolly, head of Safway’s Bridge Division, which handles QuikDeck. “Customers around the world are recognizing the productivity gains that come from our product’s fast installation, versatility and improved safety."
Dolly added, “Nisso’s position as a respected leader in Japan’s worksite access sector makes them an ideal partner. They share our focus on smart engineering and our steadfast dedication to safety.” QuikDeck features a unique modular design that allows an “in the air” build-out of a broad, rigid work platform. From an initial 16-foot by 16-foot QuikDeck platform hung under the work area, sections can be rapidly added and leap-frogged (using materials staged on sections previously erected) – all without ever touching anything below. Its easy installation saves on labor and moves projects along efficiently.
QuikDeck can be engineered to span large areas, fit unique shapes, withstand high loads at a 4:1 ratio, and be combined with other access solutions such as supported scaffolding. QuikDeck also provides a safe barrier between the work area and anything below.
“QuickDeck is attractive to our clients because workers can function at high efficiency, use wheeled equipment, handle large amounts of materials, and safely work with mixed crews. This can result in a level of productivity that can significantly reduce project costs,” said Dai Ono, CEO of Nisso. “QuikDeck is perfect for many complex access challenges in the dynamic Japanese market.”
He noted that analysts forecast construction spending in Japan to increase significantly over the coming five years, due in part to tens of trillions of yen in government stimulus for reconstruction after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, economic reforms and other public works.
Safway’s current agreement with Nisso covers the distribution of QuikDeck in Japan, which is the world’s third largest economy. Nisso has offices in Taiwan, South Korea and Germany, and may provide a platform for wider international distribution of QuikDeck in the future, according to Dolly.
