Annual CONSTRUCT Show Opens

October 6, 2019

Held in conjunction with the annual convention of the Construction Specifiers Institute (CSI), CONSTRUCT begins on Wednesday, October 9, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, and runs through Friday, October 11.

It is the only national trade show and educational conference dedicated to bringing commercial building teams together to procure real-world, practical knowledge for building success. With continuing education unit (CEU) credits available, the three-day conference and expo offers a variety of different solutions-driven learning opportunities for attendees to stay up to date on the latest trends.

Attendees are expected to include construction specifiers, architects, designers, engineers, project managers, contractors, construction managers, estimators, and manufacturers.

Conference Education Program

The education component includes tracks designed for architects and designers; contractors; engineers; owners; product representatives; project managers; and specifiers. The program was created with the support of an industry peer group, which reviewed hundreds of presentation submissions.

For coatings contractors, events of potential interest may include Wednesday sessions titled Building Roofing Resilience: Defining Pathways Forward (10:35 a.m. local time); How to Properly Specify an Air Barrier System (2:40 p.m.); and Five Disruptive Technologies that will Change Specifications Forever (4:00 p.m.).

Thursday’s highlights begin with Understanding Difficult Critical Transitions of Air, Vapor and Moisture Barriers (7:45 a.m.); Paint Technology: Chemistry & Performance (9:30 a.m.); An Introduction to High Performance Coating Systems (11:00 a.m.); and The Ins and Outs of High Performance Roof Systems (3:15 p.m.).

Friday’s slate includes topics such The Love/Hate Relationship of Moisture in Concrete Floor Slabs (7:45 a.m.); Mentoring Emerging Professionals (9:45 a.m.); Five Considerations When Specifying Manufacturers (11:15 a.m.); and Risks and Rewards: Contractual Relationships and the Construction Project (2:45 p.m.) The full session schedule can be read here.

Exposition and Events

In addition to education, CONSTRUCT presents delegates with opportunities to visit with hundreds of exhibitors and manufacturers offering products and services to meet the needs of the commercial building industry to design, build, renovate, and operate.

“These companies offer the latest in practical product solutions to assist the building team in building smarter and more efficiently to build projects on time and on budget,” event organizers say.

While exploring the show floor, attendees are encouraged to participate in accredited educational sessions; view live product demonstrations; network with fellow colleagues; and experience face-to-face engagement with representatives from top companies in the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry.

The exhibition is designed to be an intimate show, allowing more than 175 select exhibitors to more personally engage with conference attendees. The Exhibit Hall — which includes Learning Lounges for exhibitor-led educational sessions, a Demo & Learning Theater for brief product demonstrations, and a new Workshop Studio — will be open on Thursday and Friday.
