Chemline, Inc. is now offering Chemline 2265 ARO, an abrasion-resistant overcoat with extra protection for its standard 2265 direct-to-metal polyurethane coating.
Using proprietary polymer technology, the product provides a nearly impenetrable membrane as a sacrificial second layer designed to defend a primary pipeline coating from impact and rock damage during push/pull operations in horizontal directionally drilled (HDD) installations.
These HDD installations include road and river crossings, which may require additional ARO to keep the anticorrosion coating intact.
Features of the Overcoat
ARO maintains its flexibility, allowing use on bends, fittings, and fabrication when severe handling or rough terrain persist. The overcoat is formulated without abrasive fillers, which can rapidly erode spray gun modules and clog proportioning unit filters. ARO bonds to Chemline 2265 and forms a resistant outer shell at more than 60 mils (1,524.0 microns) of thickness.
According to the manufacturer, primary features of the polyurethane overcoat include:
· Formulated without plasticizers, tar, or other hydrocarbon extenders
· Formulated to minimize overspray fog in the application area
· Has noticeably less odor than conventional coatings, based on its low tendency to fog and the absence of tar extenders and aromatic solvents
