High-Performance Epoxy for Interior Applications

December 3, 2024

Dunn-Edwards, a leading U.S. manufacturer and distributor of premium architectural, industrial, and high-performance paints and paint supplies, recently introduced ENDURACAT as a new high-performance epoxy for interior applications.

The product is an epoxy-fortified interior, ultra-low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pre-catalyzed, water-based, single-component coating.

Superior Adhesion, Resistance

The ultra-low VOC coating is intended for use on properly prepared interior metal, wood, drywall, and masonry, and it provides superior adhesion, excellent chemical resistance, and outstanding washability.

The epoxy can be applied to interior, high maintenance, institutional, or commercial areas, such as hospitals, schools, hotels, and cafeterias. According to the company, the epoxy is ideal for use in environments where frequent cleaning, moisture, or mildew conditions may exist.

“Where extra durability and chemical resistance is required, ENDURACAT delivers on each one,” said Neha Koneru, product manager for Dunn-Edwards.

Epoxy Availability Options

The epoxy is available in Semi-Gloss; L, M, and U bases; and in 1-gal (3.8 L) containers.

Like all Dunn-Edwards paints, ENDURACAT does not contain ethylene glycol (EG) — which Dunn-Edwards removed from its paint formulas in 1984. Exposure to EG, which is listed as a hazardous air pollutant and toxic air contaminant, can be harmful to people, according to the manufacturer.

Dunn-Edwards operates more than 130 company stores in California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas, and it also boasts more than 80 authorized dealers throughout the U.S. West region. Based in Southern California, the 92-year-old company — now a wholly owned subsidiary of Osaka, Japan-based Nippon Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. — has approximately 1,700 employees.

The company’s coatings are produced in a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold-certified manufacturing plant, as certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.
