Orion Brochure Details NEROX 510 Carbon Black Pigment for More Cost-Effective Industrial Coatings

January 8, 2015

A new technical brochure describing the performance of NEROX 510 Carbon Black Pigment for formulating cost-effective industrial coatings with higher stability and jetness is now available from Orion Engineered Carbons.

The 8-page color brochure contains charts and graphs comparing the performance of NEROX 510 relative to two higher-performing NEROX Carbon Black Pigments, as well as a competitive product. The new NEROX 510 Furnace Black compares favorably with the competitive grade widely used in industrial coatings, plastic coatings, and wood coatings. The technical brochure includes guideline formulations with suitable dispersion additives for easier drop-in replacement.

Orion developed the new NEROX 510 Furnace Black pigment using an innovative after-treatment process that leads to better wetting and dispersion properties, as well as lower oil and binder adsorption of the pigment in solvent-borne coating systems. As a result, NEROX 510 exhibits a high tinting strength and a good stability in tinting systems.

Based on the low mill-base viscosity, high pigment loadings are possible without degrading a coating’s coloristic properties, which opens the way to more cost-effective coatings production.
